
On arrival at Delhi International Airport, proceed for Immigration and Customs Clearances. After clearing Customs, please collect your baggage and proceed towards arrival lounge and look for SKY VACATIONS representative, who will be holding the placard with your name on it. You will be met, assisted and thereafter transferred to your hotel by AC car. Arrive and check-in at the hotel.
Sprawling on the banks of the River Yamuna, the capital city of India- Delhi typifies the soul of the country. The legacy of that past survives in the many monuments left behind by a line of Kings and Emperors -each a chronicle of the glory of its time and an imprint of each ruler’s character. Today, the city is a curious blend of modern and traditional – skyscrapers, beautiful gardens and wide tree-lined avenues.
Morning after breakfast at around 8 O’clock, you will be met by our Tour Guide in the hotel lobby and proceed for a guided combined city tour of Old & New Delhi.
Your tour starts from Old Delhi, visiting the Mahatma Gandhi’s Memorial at Raj Ghat; where the Father of the Nation was cremated. Continue to Jama Masjid, the largest mosque built from 1644-1658, during the reign of Emperor Shahjahan. After lunch [on direct payment], tour New Delhi, visiting some important monuments in the modern part of the city, which would include, the magnificent
Qutab Minar, 239 feet sandstone tower of Indo Islamic architecture and Emperor Humayun’s Tomb constructed in 1570, and of particular significance, as it was the first garden tomb built in the Indian subcontinent. Later drive past India Gate, a memorial to India’s soldiers who laid down their lives in World War-I, the House of Parliament, the Presidential Palace, both grand masterpieces of the British architecture and symbols of British Raj and finally the Rajpath – New Delhi’s broadest avenue. Later, afternoon at around 4 PM, we drive overland to Agra, a destination where successive Mughal Emperors left their architectural imprints- culminating with the magnificent Taj Mahal, creating one of the ancient India’s greatest centers of art and culture. Arrive and check in at the hotel. B
Early morning, we visit the Taj Mahal by sunrise, when it’s bathing with the first rays of the Sun, looking completely golden.
Constantly changing color, with Sun’s changing its position on the horizon; Taj is mesmerizing! Taj Mahal [closed on Fridays] a monumental labor of love, from the Mughal Emperor Shāh Jahān which took 22 years to build in memory of his beloved wife, Arjumand Bano Begum, also known as Mumtāz Mahal After partaking in the glory of Taj, we return to the hotel for breakfast. After some rest, at the hotel, we leave for a visit to Agra Fort,
representing the first major building project of Akbar, one of the few buildings built by him that now survives. The magnificent Agra Fort was built by Akbar in 1565 and further developed by successive generations. This well-preserved fortress built of red-sandstone dominates a bend of the River Yamuna– with a magnificent view of the Taj. The interior boasts of may grand buildings which include the Royal Pavilions, the Diwan-e-Am [hall of public audience] and Diwan-e-khas [hall of private audience] – usually reserved for other Kings and Dignitaries. Later return to Delhi. On arrival, proceed to the International airport to board your flight for onward destination. B
