Day 1: Arrival in Havana
Upon arrival in Havana, you will be welcomed by your English-speaking guide and transferred to your hotel. After checking in, you will be driven to Casa Relax where you will have a cooking show and learn how to make a mojito.
Day 2: Explore Havana (B, L, D)
This morning, take a walking tour of Old Havana, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and learn about the restoration projects that are integral to preserving this famous neighborhood’s history and architecture. On your tour through Old Town also stop at the Rations Store, Farmers Market, and learn more about daily Cuban life. Stop at El Café where you will have a light lunch with sandwiches out of fresh sourdough bread, meet young artist Arian Irsula, and chat about young artists’ perspectives of Cuba at their Ateliers while enjoying a refreshing cocktail. Afterwards continue to a special community project, Muraleando. After some free time, end this exceptional day with a drive in antique cars down Havana’s Malecón to our dinner at a top Cuban paladar. La Guarida is the scene of the Oscar-nominated movie “Strawberry and Chocolate” and is one of the hardest tables to get in Havana.
Day 3: Las Terrazas (B, L, D)
Start the day with breakfast at the hotel and then depart for Las Terrazas, an eco-community in Pinar del Río located within the Sierra del Rosario Biosphere Reserve. This unique sustainable community started in 1968 as a part of the Green Revolution within the UNESCO-designated Sierra del Rosario Biosphere Reserve. Visit the reforestation projects, a small community school, a polyclinic to learn more about the healthcare system in Cuba, and a local art studio. On the way back to Havana, stop at a Finca to have a delicious lunch with products directly from the fields and production of the house. Get to know the owners of Nicaragua who worked as chefs in Paris for years and have now found their new homes in the beautiful greens between Artemisa and Havana.
In the evening, enjoy an exclusive dinner show in the cozy and stylish atmosphere of Casa Miglis, one of the top restaurants of Havana, hosting one of the top contemporary dance ensembles in town. The young talents of “Havana Queens,” winners of several Cuban “Lucas” awards, will impress you with their dynamic show combining the Nostalgic and the New Cuba. The location, Casa Miglis and its bar “Impala” has become a meeting point for creative people and artists from all over the world. Swedish Chef Jonas Anderson offers a creative fusion of Cuban and Swedish cuisine.
Day 4: Cienfuegos (B, L)
After breakfast at the hotel, depart for Cienfuegos. Upon arrival, enjoy lunch directly at the sea and then tour the city. Visit the Palacio del Valle and the Terry Theater and stroll along Parque Martí and Boulevard. Meet with the artists to learn more about their work, their artistic influences, and the life of an artist in Cuba. Afterwards enjoy a live performance of local artists before continuing on to Trinidad.
Day 5: Trinidad (B, L, D)
Have an exciting day in Trinidad! First stop is the Valley of the Sugar Mills where you learn about the importance of the area’s sugar production through discussions with local farmers and workers over lunch. Enjoy live music at Barrancón before taking a walking tour of the town. Visit a museum (either Palacio Cantero or the Architecture Museum) and walk over the cobblestones of Plaza Mayor. Afterwards, delight in an Afro-Cuban musical performance at the Congos Reales. Return to the hotel where you can enjoy dinner.
Day 6: Trinidad and Cienfuegos (B, L, D)
In the morning visit the Botanical Garden of Cienfuegos, which is considered a National Monument in Cuba. Here, learn more about Cuba’s interesting varieties of tropical plants and trees. Next, enjoy lunch at a private restaurant (paladar) in Cienfuegos before you continue your journey back to Havana. Dinner is at La Mansión Castillo, a hidden gem in the Vedado neighborhood.
After dinner, transfer back to your hotel or continue to the art factory: “Fabrica de Arte”. The “Fabrica” has been awarded among the top 100 places to visit in 2019 by the American “Time Magazine” – a huge honor for the Cuban creative scene! At “Fabrica” you can see contemporary Cuban art, modern dance performances, listen to DJ sets, live concerts and much more, all under just one roof! The large facility is divided into four floors with various cocktail and snack stations and a VIP section with bar, favorite place for the local “Farandula” of artists, musicians and bohemians.
