Reel to Real Life Bridgerton

DAY 1 – Welcome Pick up hire car and transfer to Bath. Enjoy a hop on hop off tour on arrival in Bath. The delightful UNESCO city of Bath is packed with eye-catching highlights. The half-moon shaped Royal Crescent is the epitome of Bath’s Georgian architecture built from the attractive honey colored stone that dominates the city and can be easily recognized from Bridgerton and  other shows & movies. Explore the city at your own pace as you settle in after travel.  DAY 2 – Bath Today you will meet with your private guide for sightseeing in Bath to include a visit to the Bath Assembly Rooms, the Holbourne Museum of Art & No 1 Royal Crescent Museum. The Bath Assembly Rooms were completed in 1771 and were described as ‘the most noble and elegant of any kingdom’. They were at the heart of fashionable Georgian society and featured in many of the scenes in the hit show. The Holbourne Musuem of Art is featured in many of the ballroom scenes in Bridgerton. At the heart of the Holburne Museum is the collection of Sir William Holburne (1793-1874), fifth baronet of Menstrie. William seemed destined for a naval career but, following the death of his elder brother Francis, he inherited the family title and a modest fortune. He left the navy and embarked on an eighteen-month Grand Tour of Europe, visiting Italy, the Alps and the Netherlands. This sparked a lifelong interest in art and his enthusiasm for collecting. He particularly loved bronze sculptures, silver, porcelain and Dutch landscapes. The Holbourne Museum of Art acts as the exterior of Lady Danbury’s House also. No. 1 Royal Crescent, a museum in Bath, features in many scenes depicting the front doors or the Featherington Residence.  Standing out on the city skyline are the towers of Bath Abbey. This historic building was founded in the 7th century, has been transformed and renovated over the centuries and now boasts an impressive gothic interior. DAY 3 – Lacock No trip to England would be complete without a visit to a quintessential English village and Lacock does not disappoint. Dating back over 800 years, many of you will be familiar with this medieval market village from its appearances in Downton Abbey, Pride & Prejudice and Harry Potter & The Half Blood Prince. Explore the village with its superb architecture and houses or if you are feeling energetic enjoy an easy 2 mile walk along the riverside enjoying beautiful views of the surrounding countryside and the River Avon on which stands the historic Lacock Abbey. Return to Bath via a beautiful scenic drive of the Southern Cotswolds including villages such as Castle Combe, a popular film location, and was supposedly where Oliver Cromwell came to escape the stress of life in the 17th century.  DAY 4 – Bath to London Today depart beautiful Bath and return to London via Stonehenge. The Neolithic stone circle of Stonehenge in the Wiltshire countryside is one of the most famous wonders of the world. Dating back to approximately 3000 BC, the circle of huge upright and horizontal rectangular stones continues to fascinate academics, spiritualists and visitors. Close by is Wilton House. Stroll around the House with its 17th century interiors and world famous art collection by renowned artists such as van Dyck, Pieter Brueghel, Rembrandt van Rijn and Richard Wilson. With over 22 acres of parkland gardens, bordered by rivers Wylye and Nadder, the Grounds are perfect for visitors to explore or to relax in and have a picnic. Wilton House features in the hit show as the interior of the Queens Residence, Lady Danbury’s Residence and the Duke of Hastings House. Continue to London where you will drop off your rental car in the city center. DAY 5 – London Meet with your private guide today and enjoy a Thames River Cruise from Westminster Abbey to Greenwich. At Greenwich you will visit Ranger’s House. Ranger’s House is an elegant Georgian villa on the boundary of Greenwich Park and Blackheath which houses The Wernher Collection, a world-class art collection amassed by the 19th-century businessman, Sir Julius Wernher. Fans of Bridgerton will know this beautiful property as the Bridgerton Residence. Wisteria and Ivy were added to the exterior to give it a more enchanting appearance in the show. Free evening in London.  DAY 6 – London Enjoy a fabulous day in England’s capital city on your own. Visit iconic sites, a 360 degree panoramic view of the city on the London Eye or a couple of pints in a traditional English pub.  DAY 7 – Farewell Its time to say au revoir – transfer to the airport for your onward journey or extend your stay to discover other parts of glorious United Kingdom.
