Calgary – A Self-Drive Getaway

Day 1: Calgary

Upon arrival, you’ll be met by a Sky Vacations ambassador who will assist you to your hotel. The balance of the day is yours to explore the energetic city streets at your own pace. You’ll be able to use your prebooked ticket to visit the Calgary Tower and enjoy the vast view from the 360 lookout deck.

Day 2: Calgary

Begin the day with a Food Tour. Calgary is filled with incredible chefs and food artisans eager to showcase the taste of Alberta’s bountiful produce and cuisine. You’ll enjoy tastings at six to ten spots while also discovering each neighborhood’s history, art and architecture. Tours are two to four hours long so wear comfortable shoes! The balance of the day is at leisure.

Day 3: Calgary

This morning, pick up your car rental (which includes unlimited mileage, LDW insurance and third party liability) and make your way to Winsport Canada Olympic Park. WinSport is best known as the host facility for the 1988 Winter Olympic Games and remains open today as a year-round recreational playground. Take in a scenic round of mini golf or bike down Southern Alberta’s only lift-accessible mountain bike trails. Conveniently located just 15 minutes from downtown, WinSport has dining options, retail stores and a fully equipped rental shop so you have everything you need (should weather permit!). Later, head to CrossIron Mills for some retail therapy, a 1.4 million-square-foot shopping center that is the largest single-level shopping center in Alberta, with 17 anchor stores and more than 200 specialty stores and premium brand outlets.

Day 4: Calgary – Canmore

Today head west towards the beautiful town of Canmore. Stroll the picturesque main street exploring the boutique shopping and local art galleries. Enjoy a drink at the Grizzly Paw Brewery, a bagel from Rocky Mountain Bagel Company, or a cup of joe at one of the many locally-run coffee shops. A beginner hike will get you some great views with moderate effort as you walk past a waterfall to two majestic turquoise lakes.

Day 5: Canmore – Calgary

Today, enjoy a leisurely morning before checking out of your hotel and returning your rental car to Calgary – or extend your stay and explore more!
