Sky Vacations’ Top 10 picks for 2025
With so many wonderful places to choose from, creating our annual Top 10 Destinations list wasn’t easy, but our team of experts can do the impossible and have complied a list of the most exciting and intriguing destinations for 2025.
1. Umbria, Italy: Nestled between Tuscany and Marche on the Adriatic Sea, Umbria is an ideal destination for those who are seeking an authentic Italian experience but without the crowds, queues and frenzy. Highlights include a stay at the Palazzo Seneca in Norcia, truffle hunting, wine tasting, cooking classes and a stay at the monastery turned luxury hotel and spa, Park Hotel Ai Cappuccini in Gubbio.
2. Goa, India: One of the most beautiful states in India, Goa offers an incredible number of experiences that connect travelers with India in a unique way. From beautiful outdoor activities like hiking, watersports and bird watching to wellness, spa, meditation and ayurvedic experiences – not to mention some of the best food in the country – Goa is the perfect place to discover your own version of India.
3. Baska, Croatia: Lots of places claim to be a “hidden gem” but many, simply don’t deliver. That’s not the case for Baska. Located on the island of Krk, Baska is what many travelers expect of a hidden island gem. Sunkissed beaches, a charming old town and lots of great places to eat and even a small museum, Baska is the perfect spot for those seeking to unplug, chill out and enjoy. Our recommendation here is a stay at the Valamar Atrium Residence, just steps away from the beach with incredible views over the bay.
4. Seoul, South Korea: For far too long, Seoul was considered a one or two night stopover as travelers continued their journey onward. But in the past few years, that’s changing. Seoul (and Korea in general) has come into its own. Of course, there’s the world class shopping and accommodation and rich cultural heritage. But a new generation of travelers are spending their time exploring Korean K Pop , the rich culinary scene including vegan tours and not to be missed, Korean skin care shops, spas and treatment centers. Our hint don’t miss Olive Young Myeongdong, the largest skin care chain in the country, carrying just about everything you can imagine. Just be prepared to use a translation platform, as most products are only in Korean.
5. Vienna, Austria: Many travelers think of Vienna as a one or two night stay, part of an Imperial Cities tour. But don’t be fooled Vienna is an exciting capital city, that requires at the very least 4 nights to experience all it has to offer. Of course there’s incredible art and music, but that’s just the start! Did you know Vienna is home to Austria’s oldest winery? Stift Klosterneuburg is just outside the city center and from this 12th century abbey, you not only get stunning views, but some of the best wine tasting in the country. We also love the many markets the city has to offer, including the Kutschkemarkt, with local food products, artisan creation and coffee houses. It’s a place to experience Vienna like a local. And we would be remiss if we didn’t mention a stop at the Sacher Café, home of the world famous and incredibly delicious cake, the Sacher Torte.
6. Porto, Portugal: Of all the towns and cities in Portugal, there is something about Porto that makes it even more special than its neighbors. It might be the beautiful setting on the Douro River, the elegant architecture, incredible food, awesome museums, galleries, shops, wine and port tastings or it might just be all those things! In all of Portugal, really all of Europe, there’s nothing quite like Porto. And if you’re visiting, don’t miss he WoW a cultural experience in the Gaia neighborhood, that is unlike anything else you’ve experienced anywhere in the world!
7. St. Gallen, Switzerland: One of our favorite “new” destinations is charming St. Gallen. Located just 15 minutes from Bodensee/Lake Constance, St. Gallen has a traffic free old town that makes a visit here feel even more special. The perfect base to explore the lake and this region of Switzerland, it’s perfect year round. A real highlight includes a stay at the Einstein St. Gallen Hotel and a 3 meal, 3 country day tour: breakfast in Switzerland, lunch in Austria and dinner in Germany!
8. Wales, UK: Often overlooked by travelers to the UK , Wales is quickly becoming one of our most popular requests, especially among family travelers. From great castles and stunning landscapes, Wales provides the opportunity to break out of traditional touring and get up close to history and nature. For those who enjoy a self drive holiday, Wales is the perfect destination. Pick up a car, map out your route and explore. And if you’re a foodie, you’re going to love the many farm to table organic restaurants and farms Wales has to offer.
9. Cusco, Peru: For many travelers, a stop in Cusco is a one day or one night experience on route to or from Machu Picchu. But Cusco, once the ancient capital of the Inca Empire, is so much more than a stopover. It really feels as if each street, square and alley have an energy, a vibe that is unlike anything else you’ve experienced. From the ancient square (now called Plaza de Armas) to the San Blas neighborhood and surrounding towns and villages and marketplaces, take your time to explore. You can hike, cycle or stroll at your own pace and truly get a connection to the ancient spirit of Peru. If your budget permits, don’t miss the opportunity to stay at the Monastero Hotel, a 16th century monastery that is now a breathtaking luxury hotel (and if you can’t stay there, at least pop in for a pisco sour!).
10. Peloponnese, Greece: If you’ve already been to Greece and visited Mykonos and Santorini, you may have that “been there, done that” feeling. But think again. As stunning as they are, Greece is much more that its islands. Our must visit destination in Greece is the Peloponnese. The location of many of the most famous ancient sites such as Olympia and Mycenae, it’s also home to some of the most beautiful coastal towns and villages in the country. You can do it all here, wine tasting, touring, chill out on the beach and do it all without the endless crowds that seem to overrun many of the islands. Insiders tip. If you’re looking for a great base to explore the region, with a beautiful beach, bar, restaurant and more, check out Pheia Hotel. Located on the beautiful Agios Andreas beach, both the beach and the resort make the trip worthwhile.
