Day 2 – Florence – Peccioli
In the morning meet your private guide at the hotel for your half day walking tour of the city. Enjoy a nice stroll through the cradle of the Renaissance: home to Cimabue and Giotto, the forefathers of Italian painting; Arnolfo and Andrea Pisano, the first exponents of the Renaissance; Brunelleschi, Donatello and Masaccio, who birthed the Renaissance; Ghiberti and the Della Robbia, Filippo Lippi and Beato Angelico, Botticelli and Paolo Uccello, and universal geniuses like Leonardo and Michelangelo, the city is a true treasure trove of art. During the tour, you will visit the renowned Uffizi Gallery, one of the largest and best-known museums in the world, which holds a collection of priceless works, particularly from the period of the Italian Renaissance. Opened to visitors by request since the sixteenth century, in 1765 it was officially opened to the public, formally becoming a museum in 1865.
Among the most recognized artists, you will admire works by Cimabue, Giotto and Duccio di Buoninsegna, Sandro Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, Paolo Uccello and Michelangelo. Plus there are the countless European masters, such as El Greco, Velasquez and Goya, in addition to Rembrandt, Hans Memling, Rubens and Dürer. At the end, your guide will accompany you back to the hotel. Lunch is at leisure. In the afternoon, private transfer from Florence to The Pratello Country Resort.
Day 3 – Peccioli
Morning is at leisure for some rest before the big night out. In the afternoon (around 5.30 pm), private transfer to the amazing Teatro del Silenzio (Theater of Silence) for Andrea Bocelli’s concert. This amazing and unique open theater is located in the middle of the Tuscan hills, in Lajatico, the Maestro’s birthplace. It’s definitely an unforgettable experience to live once in a lifetime! Before the concert you will enjoy an exclusive aperitif and open-air gourmet dinner in a reserved area near the stage with an amazing view on the Tuscan hills (welcome cocktail starting at 6.30 pm and dinner starting at 7 pm; the event is reserved for up to 250 guests). Day 4 – Peccioli
This afternoon, meet your private English speaking driver and reach Siena. Here you will meet your private English speaking guide for 3-hour walking through one of Italy’s loveliest medieval cities. You will explore this amazing town still mostly looking as it did in the 14th century. The three hills amid which the city rests rise up like an idyllic film set, the old boundaries soften like the past into a countryside that sometimes still seem like the scene painted by Ambrosia Lorenzetti in the Allegory of Good Government in the halls of Siena’s city hall. Siena reached the pinnacle of its splendor in the Middle Ages, in a centuries-long rivalry against Florence. In only a few decades the striking City Hall was erected, the Torre del Mangia, the breathtakingly beautiful Piazza del Campo was paved with travertine ribs, and the famous Cathedral was constructed.
This is a city where every stone has stayed the same down the centuries thanks to the unique handing down of mysterious and spectacular customs through the generations. The most striking expression is the Palio, a twice-yearly occurrence in which the city’s neighborhoods, known as contrade, compete in an audacious horse race around Piazza del Campo. The atmosphere of the Palio days permeates the city throughout the year and you can discover the traditions and stories related to this amazing event by simply strolling around the city. At the end, private transfer back to the hotel.
Day 5 – Peccioli
After breakfast, private transfer to Florence airport for your onward journey.
