DAY 1 – Welcome

Upon arrival at London Heathrow airport, you will be met by your Sky Vacations ambassador who will assist you with your transfer to the city center. Afternoon is at leisure to unwind and explore magnificent London. 

DAY 2 – London

Today you will explore the area of Westminster at your leisure. Make sure to pass by Buckingham Palace and a chance to witness the changing of the guard in the morning before taking a short stroll to the Westminster area of the city. Not to be missed the Gothic masterpiece of Westminster Abbey has been at the heart of British history since the formation of the Abbey by Edward the Confessor in 1065. The Abbey became the coronation church for the English monarchy in 1066, was transformed into the modern stone Abbey in the reign of Henry III and has since been the venue for countless magnificent, joyous and sometimes unfortunate royal events. Continue to visit Churchill War Rooms, which was the underground center of the British War effort during WWII. You may want to complete the day with a trip to London Eye for a 360 degree view of the city.

DAY 3 – Tower of London & The Shard

Today you will continue your exploration of London and today it’s time to visit The Tower of London & The Shard. On the banks of the River Thames in the heart of London stands the Tower of London and nearly 1000 years of history and intrigue. The Tower of London has been used at various times as a palace, barracks, military stronghold, zoo and most famously as a prison incarcerating famous names like Sir Walter Raleigh, Anne Boleyn and Guy Fawkes. During a visit to the Tower visitors can see crown jewels worth over £20 billion, meet the ravens who legends say have the fate of the Kingdom in their claws, talk to the distinctive Yoeman guards with their white ruffs, and learn about the gruesome torture that went on within the walls. The Shard was conceived as a building with multiple uses: a vertical city where people could live, work and relax. It comprises world-class offices, award-wining restaurants, the 5-star Shangri-La Hotel, exclusive residences and the UK’s highest viewing gallery, The View from The Shard, offering 360-degree views. Well-connected and comprehensively serviced by central London’s transport infrastructure, facilities and amenities, The Shard is a timeless reminder of the power of imagination to inspire change.

DAY 4 – Stonehenge & Bath

Collect your hire vehicle this morning and leave London behind as you venture out into the English countryside. Make your way to Stonehenge and visit the world’s most famous prehistoric monument. It was built in several stages: the first monument was an early henge monument, built about 5,000 years ago, and the unique stone circle was erected in the late Neolithic period about 2500 BC. Continue onwards to the city of Bath, well known for its Roman History and spas. Pay a visit to the Roman Baths which were built in AD70 over hot springs of which the Great Bath still receives over one million litres of hot water daily from the 12,000 year old Kings Spring below. An interactive museum, costumed characters and award-winning audio guides narrated by witty travel writer Bill Bryson are also available to bring the history of the baths to life.

DAY 5 – Cotswolds

Today you will set off for Stratford-upon-Avon in the heart of England. Along the route you will travel through the picturesque Cotswold region. The most famous villages include Broadway, Chipping Campden and Bourton-on-the-Water, but you may also choose to explore some of the following: Bibury was once described as “the most beautiful village in England”, and the cottages of Arlington Row are often referred to as the most photographed cottages in the country. Further north, the village of Blockley is a unique collection of golden stone cottages, reflecting its past glory. 

DAY 6 – Stratford-upon-Avon & Warwick

After breakfast explore the historic streets of Stratford upon Avon taking in its history, attractions and fascinating relationship with William Shakespeare. Walk in Shakespeare’s footsteps to see the Shakespeare town houses, Grammar School, Royal Shakespeare Theatres, Guild Chapel, Holy Trinity Church and much more. You will even be able to visit the birthplace of Shakespeare himself.

In the afternoon, depart for nearby Warwick Castle which has stood as an impressive Medieval Fortress on the banks of the river Avon for the last 1100 years. Attacked in 1264, besieged in 1642 and damaged by fire in 1871, the castle has survived the changing fortunes of history and remains one of the most well preserved medieval castles in the UK

DAY 7 – Oxford

Today you will depart for Oxford for your last full day and evening in England. The importance and wealth of Oxford University is projected through the scale and grandeur of the college buildings throughout the city. Pass some of the oldest colleges such as the 13th century Exeter College, the impressive Bodleian Library and Balliol College, which is something of an assembly line for British Prime Ministers. Other Oxford highlights include the pretty Bridge of Sighs which connects two parts of Hertford College, and the Eagle and Child Pub where famous authors JRR Tolkien and CS Lewis would regularly meet. Oxford was also the perfect setting for the Harry Potter film series. Pay a visit to Blenheim Place just outside the city, home to the 12th Duke of Marlborough and his family and the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill. Blenheim Palace is a UNESCO World Heritage Site boasting a long and diverse history. A masterpiece of Baroque architecture, landscaped Parkland and stunning Formal Gardens, Blenheim Palace provides an awe-inspiring experience for visitors.

DAY 8 – Farewell

Its time to say au revoir – transfer to the airport for your onward journey or extend your stay to discover other parts of glorious United Kingdom.
